How to properly install rock wool board to ensure its performance?

Publish Time: 2025-03-24
Correct installation of rock wool board is essential to ensure its performance. As a high-quality thermal insulation, heat insulation and fireproof material, rock wool board has a wide range of applications in the construction field.

Before installing rock wool board, the base wall needs to be processed first. Make sure the wall is clean, flat, free of oil and loose parts, remove the weathered parts, and ensure that the base meets the construction requirements. At the same time, check the quality of the rock wool board to ensure that its surface is flat, without cracks, bulging or damage. This step is the basis for ensuring that the rock wool board fits tightly with the base wall and avoids hollowing and falling off.

According to the building facade design and insulation technical requirements, horizontal and vertical control lines, expansion joints, decorative seams, etc. are popped up on the wall. At the same time, vertical reference lines are hung at the large corners and other necessary places of the building's exterior wall, and horizontal lines are hung on each floor. These control lines and reference lines help ensure the verticality and flatness of the rock wool board, thereby achieving better insulation and heat insulation effects.

Apply a layer of adhesive on the outer surface of the rock wool board and smooth it with a scraper so that the glue is embedded in the rock wool board fibers. This step helps to enhance the bonding between the rock wool board and the base wall. Next, apply adhesive on the back of the rock wool board and use the dot-frame method to ensure that the bonding area is not less than 60%. The dot-frame method can ensure that the adhesive is evenly distributed and improve the bonding effect.

Quickly paste the glued rock wool board to the wall and flatten it with a 2m ruler to ensure the flatness of the board surface and firm bonding. During the pasting process, pay attention to the verticality and horizontality of the rock wool board to avoid tilting or misalignment. At the same time, ensure that the offset distance between the rock wool boards is not less than 300mm to reduce the thermal bridge effect and improve the insulation effect.

After the rock wool board is pasted, install anchors to enhance fixation. The anchors should be deep into the wall, and the effective anchoring depth should be not less than 30mm. This step can ensure that the rock wool board will not fall off or loosen during long-term use, thereby improving its durability.

Laying fiberglass mesh on the rock wool board can enhance the crack resistance of the insulation layer. Next, apply anti-cracking mortar on the mesh cloth, and construct in two layers to ensure the flatness and crack resistance of the insulation layer. Anti-cracking mortar can further improve the thermal insulation and heat insulation effect of rock wool board, while enhancing its weathering and corrosion resistance.

After the construction is completed, the insulation layer is inspected and inspected for quality. Check the appearance quality of the rock wool board, whether the fixings are firmly installed, and whether they meet the requirements of the specifications. This step is a key link to ensure the installation quality of rock wool board, which helps to find and solve problems in time and ensure that the performance of rock wool board is fully utilized.

Correct installation of rock wool board requires a series of strict steps and precautions. Through the steps of base treatment, line control, rock wool board interface treatment and glue laying, pasting and flattening, installation of anchors, laying of fiberglass mesh cloth and anti-cracking mortar, acceptance and quality inspection, the installation quality of rock wool board can be ensured, so as to give full play to its thermal insulation, heat insulation and fireproof performance.
